Toddy tapping
Toddy or kallu is a local drink in Kerala derived from palm or coconut trees. Here toddy is being tapped by a toddy tapper who is traditionally expert in the work. The fruit of the palm is cut in its bud and is covered with a pot. It is normally an evening business and by the next morning, the pot will be full of white frothy toddy. The process which is a rythamtic movement is a fascinating experience.
Country boat ride
As back water, canals have great influence in the life of people. Canal ride in country boat is a superb experience which gives an excellent view of nature, life style, practices and village life of Vaikom. Our journey through the magnificent backwaters begins here in the company of the local boat operator. As the boat moves, the guide shows and narrates the views from both the ends.
Lunch with Fish Curry
Here we are served with a sumptuous lunch with boiled rice, sambar, aviyal, koottukari, pickle, papad, thoran, rasam and tasteful fish curry. Tapioca and fish curry a tasteful local cuisine can be ordered here. Instead of using readymade ingredients, they use natural products in food items.
Pot making
Pottery is the ceramic ware made by potters. The place where such wares are made is also called a pottery (plural potteries).Pottery can also refer to the material of which the pottery ware is made. Major types of pottery include earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Wares are constructed by hand from coils of clay, from flat slabs of clay, from solid balls of clay, or some combination of these. Parts of hand-built vessels are often joined together with the aid of slip, an aqueous suspension of clay body and water. Hand building is slower than wheel-throwing, but it offers the potter a high degree of control over the size and shape of wares. The speed and repetitiveness of other techniques is more suitable for making precisely matched sets of wares such as table wares, although some studio potters find hand building more conducive to create one-of-a-kind works of art
Matsyagarm
The Palaikkari farm is famous for its lush coconut groves in the bund area and the presence of bountiful variety of fish from nearby Vembanadu lake. An aqua park of this kind is thus unique in many respects amid a natural setting. Native food, including meals with fish varieties, tender coconut ice cream and snacks, will be offered.
