Yaroon Chalo

Yaroon Chalo

The return journey of the solitude warrior Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa was with a mission of liberating India from the Western chains. Exactly after 100 years of His audacious journey, the people of India still continue with the expedition. A group of people consists of around 500 young cohorts from across the world are in a mission to transform India through enterprises. When Gandhi returned to India, his political mentor Gopalakrishna Gokhale suggested him to travel and witness grass root realities of India.  15 Days, 12 Destinations, 15 Role Models, 8000 Kms and ONE Train - An awesome journey through out the length and breadth of India."

If you hunt for an opportunity, it will never comes to you, and you will become more despair. Hence my decision to join Jagriti Yatra was without any specific purpose. That attitude paid a lots for me.

Music Mantra

The best episode of my JY expedition was the 'Yaroo Chalo' - the theme song of JY. I was
used to do away from music and dance from my childhood onwards due to unknown reasons. But everything turned in a moment of time. The terrific steps of Gouri Sharma Tripathi made me a fan of Dance and Musics. Beyond a performer,  she does things with a passion; that triumphed the clarion call in me. I learnt that if you have passion for something, you can move people. Also the power of music to unite people is mind blogging. Beyond caste, creed, colour and language, it gives us a united feeling always, and I am tempted to be ONE always amidst the rhythm of Yaroon Chalo.

Serve With Passion

If you serve, serve like JY Cateres. Serve with Passion and Love. Toiled days in moving train, 24X7 kind of work, most of them are from rural villages and not professionals. But they always greet us with sumptuous food, cheerful smile and serving attitude. I cannot spot a single incident where anyone behave differently. Amongst role models, I am more facinated to position themselves as my role models. Whatever you do, do with perfection and with an attitude of compassion.

I am a Toilet Cleaner

I was really surprised to hear from Mr. Deepak from Bihar. When I asked him 'What are you doing?' he said; 'I am a Toilet Cleaner'; Further, he added, ' I do clean toilets whoever wants my service. All are equal and disseminating this fact is most important. Beyond caste, creed, rich or poor, we all are human beings and I stand to break all these great walls. He continued.

Hailing from a rural background,  he was forced to find sustenance for his daily needs owed to various reasons. He has done his post graduation from Jama Malia University and works as a Journalist. Amidst hardships, he managed to live up to his own expectations. But the  discrimination, religion/regional deficit made him to think about the nuances of life. This is the sole inspiration for him to be known as a 'toilet cleaner'. You can call him to get your toilets cleaned and he is satisfied with whatever you give that will go to the NGO he works. He is quiet happy.

Life is all about what makes you happy and not who you are and  what you are. Who you are and What you have are relevant only when what do you do. Ultimately you are a speck in this Universe. Mr. Deepak is successfully sharing the message of simplicity through a humble activity which is really GREAT. His smiling face stands like a glowing memory in my heart and mind.

Despair Moment

Life is not full of bed roses; we should be equipped to digest the rare incidents. I had a plan to discuss some specific work I do with those who are in similar page. After word with a few people in JY I was able to take it ahead. I happened to meet a person who do some good works in my work area; when I requested him to 'share his ideas so that we can extend into a renewed platform'. He suddenly reacted oddly and said 'I  am not believing in ideas only in implementing. I dont believe in sharing ideas that are mere a lip service'. He was keep on continuing. After a moment, I responded 'Sir, Could you please listen first and then respond?' He started shouting at me and and said 'there are people speak a lot and do nothing. I already do so many things and not interested in sharing anything'. I dejected aback.

My ideology goes like this 'Knowledge and Idea only multiply and not reduce while we share. Always try to share what you know so that somebody may get benefited which is essential for the mutual growth.

This 8000 km journey was not a mere travel for me, beyond a specific agenda there were a lot of intangible value additions. It enabled me to set up a mechanism for the concept selling platform I established an year ago. It was amazing to meet Pooja Sahni from Deoria who runs her handicraft business with the help of around 50 women in her village. I was really moved by her urge to take her program ahead. Also JY helped me to ensure help from some fellow Yatris who extended support to add colour to the dreams of my rural students of Kerala.

Let me conclude with this words

Woods are lovely dark and deep
Miles to go before I sleep
Miles to go before I sleep
I have to Keep my Promise"

Thank You JY
Truly a life transforming journey.
Yaroon Chalo.
